Hitchens vs. Craig DOES GOD EXIST? is a new DVD which showcases the colossal 2009 debate between best-selling author and devoted "anti-theist" Christopher Hitchens and philosophy professor and Christian apologist William Lane Craig. A debate between two goliaths Christopher Hitchens, one of the best known critics and controversial writers in today's media, is a devoted atheist and author of the best-selling book, god Is Not Great. William Lane Craig, Research Professor of Philosophy at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, has been called the smartest living Christian and one of the leading contemporary philosophers and Christian apologists in the world. On April 4, 2009, these two intellectual goliaths squared off in front of a crowd of 10,000 (4,000 live and in person, and another 6,000 via satellite feeds). While Craig presented five convincing arguments in favor of theism (specifically, Christian theism) in his opening speech, he went on to declare that believers should not be so distracted by arguments for the existence of God that they miss the experience of God. Hitchens unwaveringly presented his own worldview. It was thoroughly naturalistic and scientistic, and materialistic. They were his truth claims on behalf of atheism. With his book published in 2006, god Is Not Great, Hitchens threw down the challenge. The format of the debate was rather simple, and therefore not convoluted, easy to follow and nearly 2 hours in length. La Miranda Films made a DVD set of this colossal event. Included in the set is a disc of bonus features including a question and answer session with Hitchens and Craig separately, as well as a revealing press conference featuring each combatant and a post-debate interview with Dr. Craig.
